The black community needs your support. Nine artists are sharing the profits of their merch with Bail Funds, Legal Advice Charities and Food Banks. Here’s how to help.
WORDS BY ALI GRICE
RESEARCH BY THE VISCERAL TEAM
The world is revolting against institutional racism and it’s our duty to support this cause for now and forever. Here we have compiled a range of t-shirts and merch where the artists have pledged to donate the profits to a range of foundations from Bail Funds to Legal Advice Charities supporting Black Lives through this time. Complicity is no longer an option. Support your favourite band and support the Black Lives Matter movement by following the links below. It’s worth mentioning as of writing that Bandcamp waive their fees on the first Friday of every month, so all profits will go directly to the artist and countless artists have pledged to donate this money to charities supporting the Black community. Go pick up a new album while you can (here) and convince your favourite artists to donate their profits where they can.
STRAY FROM THE PATH
“100% of the net proceeds are going to Reclaim The Block, which organizes around a divestment from policing in Minneapolis & focuses on community investment.”
“All net proceeds will be donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.”
“100% of the money (over $1500) went to Reclaim The Block, a coalition to demand that Minneapolis divest from policing and invest in long term alternatives”
“All profits will go to Black Protest Legal UK. Black Protest Legal UK Is a hub of Lawyers and legal advisors providing free legal advice and representation to UK Black Lives Matter activists and protesters.”
TREEBOY AND ARC
“We’ll be donating all of the profits from the remaining shirts to Black Lives Matter UK & Reclaim The Block, two charities which we’ve researched thoroughly over the past few weeks and feel are offering incredibly vital services right now”
“100% of the money from this will be split evenly between the local activists in BLM LA and The Bail Project – a national organization committed time fighting and ultimately ending the unjust system of bail.”
“EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR from those merch sales will be equally split and donated to three foundations (Equality Flatbush, BEAM and Everybody Eats) working to help change our world right now.”
Donated the first orders to the @MNFreedomFund. They need help getting funding to fight for more community safety. They are up against pigs with fat pockets so they need as much help as they can get.
